It's been so long!

I haven't blogged anything in so long! I just wanted to share that I hit over 1000 views on my blog I thought that was really cool. I just got home from a long trip to Oregon. It was a pretty fun family trip! I wanted to let everyone that is keeping up with my Best Frenemies Novel series that it is going well. Boyfriend Is Offline!

Well thank you to everyone that bought the first edition of my book Boyfriend! Boyfriend is now offline while I make a few cover changes and typo errors that I caught today. A writer's job is never done unfortunately. I should have Boyfriend back out in the next couple of weeks and Best Frenemies will be soon to follow that. I am really excited for that one to be out and to have people start reading it! Audiobook!

My audiobook is finished! All I need to do now is listen to the four hours of audio and give the okay! New Book Coming Soon!

My second book Best Frenemies is in review! Basically that means it is getting checked to make sure that it is able to be published. That also means that I will have one more long edit that I will have to do that make sure everything is perfect and then it should be publishable! I am hoping that this process will be shorter than the first book now that I know what I am doing. I hope to have it salable by August or September. If all goes well and I get approved this is what my second books cover should look like! 

Audio Book

Today I got to listen to the first 15minutes of my audio book and I have to say that I am really impressed with the girl that is doing the book. I don't think I could have picked a better girl than Amy to be the voice of Ash Lynn. I am excited to get the final product going. It is going to be awesome. E3

Okay was anyone else a little disappointed in the Xbox reveal yesterday for E3? I wanted to see a lot more games. Just one girl game would have been nice. Am I right girls? All they had were games that boys are going to like and really I wasn't that impressed in most of them. There was one that looked a little fun where you can create your own world and fight creatures that you create. I thought that game (although I can't remember the title) looked interesting. Smart glass technology was kind of cool. I don't think it will be that cool for people that don't have it (luck for me I do). The game the opened with Son of Rome I think had great graphics, but I hate not being able to chose the option to be a girl! In this time and age there are a lot more girl gamers. I know when I was in high school I was the only girl that went home and did my homework and then jumped onto the Sims or my cube but come on it's not like that anymore! I know just as many girls that love a good game when there boyfriends or husbands are at work, as men. So when making a game it would be nice to take that into consideration. 

Another disappointing thing for me was the price. 499.00 just for the Xbox One, it's no wonder they are going to release a new Xbox 360 as well because I don't think that price is going to go over very well with a lot of Xbox people. I love the idea of endless friends! I have a lot of friends and I hate having to delete someone just because I met a new girl online that seems really cool. I am also really glad that your account carries over that means my achievements are safe. 

When I was watching the EA portion of E3 I have to say that again I wasn't that impressed with the games that the showed. I've never been a fan of plants vs. zombies and most sports games aren't my thing. I do have to say that NBA live14 looked amazing let's see if it actually comes out this year! I don't think it is able to compete with 2k but we will see this up coming year. I was also pretty excited to see Dragon Age coming out with a new game, I am a huge fan of the first two games so that was a nice surprise to me. Mirror's Edge was another game that I was kind of excited for, I played a little bit of it and from what I played it was a really fun game.

I was unable to watch the PS4 reveal, which was a real shame I heard they trashed Xbox through out there presentation. To me that shows either they have really good senses of humors at PlayStation or they are feeling a little intimidated by Xbox. Either way I really don't care. I also heard that their price is only 399.00 which tells me that this year PS4 will be taking over the sales when they are both released (good job Xbox). Like I stated to my fiance. I don't really care if people are buying the Xbox1 because we will be and that's Xbox's fault for making the price so high. So good luck to both PS4 and Xbox1 may the best (or cheapest) system win!

Animal Crossing New Leaf

Omg can I say that I am in love with Animal Crossing New Leaf already? As I have already upgraded my house three times you can say that I am a little addicted. I love that I get to choose so much more things then before and I love being the mayor. Right now I have pear trees in my town and my brother just gave me some oranges I'm hoping to be on my way to getting all of the fruit trees soon. Oh and who doesn't like the fact that you actually get to change pants and skirts in the game. It just makes it that much more fun. I have always collected a lot of clothing in all of my Animal Crossing games so I am glad to say that actually using the dresser is possible like the older game. I don't have to have a basement full of clothing like in the first Animal Crossing. I also love that you can use the d-pad to switch through your tools quickly. That makes all the difference when trying to catch bugs that a challenge to get. I love that the recycle store stays open a little later, I'm not sure if it is upgradeable but if it is then it will most likely become later which is really cool. I haven't been able to get a hair place to change my hair but I'm hoping that will come soon, as it looks like every girl starts off the same and every boy starts off the same. I need to find more friends that have this game though so that  I can have more people to play with! Hey everyone I just wanted to post what is going on with my book at the moment. My book is going to become an audio book available at Amazon, iTunes, and Audiobooks.com! I made an offer yesterday and I have a girl that is going to be doing all four of my upcoming books! I was pretty excited because that's just more coverage for my books. The more coverage I get the more chances of selling I have. I can't wait to hear my first couple of chapters which is suppose to be done on the 10th. It should be pretty exciting to actually have someone else read my stuff. Super excited!

Game Nerds!

Who else is looking forward for the 9th of this month? Not only does my favorite 3DS series Animal Crossing have a new game coming out that day but it is also just one day until E3. Fist things first Animal Crossing looks amazing this time around! You get to be the mayor of the town which to me is  a really needed twist to the game. All of the other games you are just the little citizen that doesn't really matter. This time you get to customize everything. If you want a fence then go ahead! Oh you just want bushes? That's fine too! I can't wait to see the customization of the characters and the thing that I am most excited for no working for Tom Nook! I hated that in every game I had to bust my butt to please Tom Nook. Another really cool feature is no more two people limit. I saw a video of three people running around in one town. Is that not the coolest thing? Okay everyone look for that game on the 9th I know that I will be playing it and so will a lot of other Animal Crossing nerds.

E3 what can I say this year is going to be one of the best E3 years yet! With two new consoles battling this year I can't wait to see more of the revel of the Xbox1 (as my brother calls it) and I won't lie I'm even a little excited to see the PS4. A little people. I am still a xbox kind of girl and when it comes to the two systems I will be going for the Xbox1 when I am able to get my greedy hands on it. That said I might actually look into the PS4 also this year who knows? E3 isn't all about systems though. I am also really looking forward to seeing what games are going to be coming up. Some games that are coming up in the up coming year that I really want are: Cod ghosts, Lego marvel, Batman Arkham Origins and Animal Crossing New Leaf. So as you can see there isn't that much, another great reason to want to watch E3 I need to get excited about more games! That's it for my E3 talk for now. I will most likely post a little something after Monday after they tell us about Xbox1!

Book Help Please People!

Hello friends on Google and Blogger. I really need some advice on what everyone thinks about this so if you read this please comment on your opinion or send me a private message! A while ago I got my first book reviewed and got told that it doesn't sound like teenagers talking. The people that reviewed my book told me to use more words like the following: cray cray (crazy), hater, oh-em-gee, totes (totally), forevs (forever), whatevs (whatever) obvi (obvious), parentals, besties, ttyl, and lol.

Okay so the question is do you guys think that it is okay to use this words in a book? I started to re-word a lot of my second book and now I'm wondering should I be doing that. Also I have a lot of texting going on in my book so do you think I should be using ttyl and lol in there? Serious opinions need everyone! Help!

New Xbox One

Ugh I don't know why I feel the need to catch up on posting! I always miss a couple of days because I am either busy writing, working, doing something for my son, or someone in my family comes to visit. So I posted a couple of outfits and now I want to talk about something that I am pretty excited the new Xbox. Today the released a little information on the new xbox which is called: Xbox One.

Basically it is a all in one system. It has a blue ray which I wasn't too shocked about. The kinect is even better not surprising. One thing that was a little crazy is that Microsoft made it so people will never have to leave their couches with the option to use the Xbox One as a remote for the T.V. You can now say "Watch T.V." and it will change it to your television service. Also you can change the channel this way as well with the simple command, "Change to ESPN." or any channel that you want. I wasn't that excited about that only because I want my gaming system for gaming not changing the channel to my T.V. Now that said when I get my Xbox One I'm sure I am going to be just as excited for that.

I really wanted to know a couple of things when I woke up this morning to watch the release. I wanted to know am I going to be able to transfer my account to the new account, and in all of the nerd talk I feel like I got my answer or somewhat. I'm pretty sure they said that your account will be transferred. I might have heard something wrong but I'm pretty sure that's what they said.

My next question was is it really going to be always online? After the release there was a little questionnaire, and that put that rumor to rest. It is not an always online system. If you want to play against people or with friends then yes you will have to play online, but that is the same for the Xbox 360, and isn't a shocker.

Something that didn't get answered that I still want to know about is: Are there going to be codes so you can't use used games? I've heard a lot about that and I really hope that is just another rumor. Oh and I'm sure most people already know this but Xbox 360 games will not be compatible with the new Xbox One.

Lastly I just wanted to say I was excited to find out that COD is going to let us customize our character a little more. When is there going to be girls in COD though? We all know that there are plenty of girls that play COD now. So that is really something that I would like to see. All this boring nerd girl stuff said I am super excited about the Xbox One and I can't wait for E3!

Meeting His Parents or Classy Girls Night!

I LOVE everything about this outfit! This cute little number would be the perfect outfit to meet your boyfriends parents in. It isn't too over done and you don't want to look like you are trying to hard. I'm short so I can wear heels all the time (lucky me!) but if the heels are too much then just swap them for some cute flats. Also I would wear a loose ponytail or twist for two reasons you don't want to hide behind your hair. It will make you unapproachable and to show off the cute pearl earrings! Also this would be a good outfit for a classy dinner with the girls! Either way I think this is a must for my closet!

Quick Post!

Hey everyone I just wanted to post a couple of random things all together. I am pretty excited because my brother came to town today so I got to hang out with him for awhile! My best friend is coming into town tomorrow which is really excited for me I haven't seen her is such a long time!

I tried out a couple of games today on the 3ds today that were so much fun. Drawn to Life was one of them. You get to draw a bunch of things and I loved getting to make my own character. I would have loved if it was better graphics, like I could make my character looked a little more like me or at least prettier. I would like to have her look less blocky. Also I tried an older Zelda game that was a lot of fun. I don't have that much to say about it other then that.

I added a bunch of things to Pinterest over the last couple of days. Fashion, nails, make up, funny things, and other things. I would have posted some of the outfits but I will try for that this weekend. Go look at my Pinterest!

Pinterest

Awhile ago my best friend told me about this site and she convinced me to look at this site called Pinterest. She told me, "This site is so awesome! You can find so much stuff to do on there, you got to check it out you'll love it!" I said back, "Okay, okay. I'll go check it out." So I signed up and my first opinion of the site it was that it was a big cluster mess. I told her, "I don't like this at all it is so confusing to me!"

Okay so if you know me I am really up on technology and new things, so she thought it was a little crazy that I hated it. A couple of months ago I thought why not give this Pinterest site one more chance and actually get to know what the site is all about. I have to tell you I am so glad that I did! I love it! It is basically my site to put everything that I love in one place. It is all about me! In the beginning it is a little confusing, I mean I didn't know what the heck I was suppose to be doing. I looked around on some others Pinterest sites and I got the idea on what I wanted my boards and pins to be like.

As I was pinning away a couple of weeks ago my fiance asked me what I was doing. I told him, "This is called pinning. You got to try it! It is so much fun, you basically pin everything you like in boards and people can come look at it, pin it and follow you." He asks, "Do a lot of guys do it?" I'm like, "Oh yeah its not just a girl thing." I had to prove it though by searching for a bunch of guy things. Finally I convince him to do it and he had the same problem I had in the beginning. So I tell him, "Let me just get you started, tell me the boards you want and I will make it and you can ask me all the questions you need too after that." He agreed, and guess what? Now he is just as addicted to pinning as I am!

So anyone that wants to try out Pinterest you should it is a pretty awesome site. Don't get discouraged if you don't catch on to it right away because at first it is a little confusing like I said before. I think it is just natural. Try it out though! I Think I Just Fell In Love!

At this moment there are two hair sensations that are in. Number 1. Ombre hair and number 2. Dipped tips. I love both they are so unique and colorful. At the moment I have a causal brown to black ombre, but I'm thinking I want soming bolder. Brown to blond? Brown to red? I can't decide. I also love the idea of dipped hair the colors that are most seen are hot pink, light green, dark blue, purple, and lilac.

The other day I was surfing the web and saw this hair chalk that is supposed to give you the same effect as dipped hair but it isn't permanent. Which I thought cool that is a good idea I can see of I like it! Ugh guess what dark haired girls? It is almost impossible to see it on our hair! If you are blond it is AMAZING! I would suggest trying it Blondies! So I was a little sad I really wanted pink and purple tips.

Don't worry for to long though brown haired girls I found these today! I can honestly say that I might be in love. These are so cool and they clip in! Having family over? Going to Church? No problem them out. Going to the club? Going out with the hubby? Going out with the girls? Try clipping them in for a new look! And no hair damage perfect!

Natural Way To Repair Hair!

A couple of nights ago I was looking at hair tips and I read this article that if mix an egg, olive oil, salt, and honey together it is supposed to make your hair shiny, reduce split ends and grow faster! Once a week for stronger, healthier, and shiny hair? Of course you know I had to try it!

I already have very thick Greek hair that is extremely curly, so it has a lot of damage because I straighten it everyday. Also I like to dye it a lot and try out new colors. I thought why not try and repair my hair. I have been doing it for a couple weeks and I can't say that it has grown, but it is already a lot shinier! I am hoping that after a month it will be over all healthier looking. I mean I have to pour eggs in my hair it better work!

I read a lot into it and there were a couple of things that made me laugh. The main thing was that some people were rinsing their hair with hot water. Okay why is that funny? It made scrambled eggs in their hair! I got a good laugh thinking of all the people that didn't think of rinsing with cool water. So if you are going to try this then you have to rinse with cool water or you will be having breakfast and a shower at the same time!

The recipe that I used was also very simple:

1 egg

1 teaspoon salt  

1 teaspoon honey

1 or 2 teaspoons olive oil (I used two because I have a lot of hair)

Mix all the ingredients together until mixed well. Then start at your roots and work your way up. Twist and clip onto the top of your head. Let it rest for 30 to 60 minutes (I did 60). In the shower rinse very well in cool water then shampoo and condition! That's it once a week. Very simple and a cool little fact you will smell like a bakery!

Dinner and a Game!

Hey web friends! I'm at work right now and FINALLY finished all of my edits for book two: Best Frenemies. I was pretty excited about that! I still need to add in a couple things that I noticed I am missing and probably a few more chapters. I am happy to say that I am still on schedule though. For me that it the most important thing.

Last night I need to relax a little and after cooking one of my fiances favorite meals: Chicken Cordon Bleu, asparagus and twice baked potatoes, I thought to myself what can I do to relax? *Ding* a huge light bulb went off, "I'm going to go play one of my random games off of the Xbox 360." I thought to myself. So i went to my game room and opened up my entertainment center where I stash all of my Xbox games. I'm looking through all of these games, and realize I have a lot of games.

My fiance and I have two different Xbox 360's so we tend to have to buy doubles of all games that we both want to play. We don't split screen anything so that is a lot of COD games doubled, Oblivion, Borderlands, and a bunch more. I never realized how many games we actually own! I get to Naughty Bear and I giggle a little. I think to myself, "How is this game not relaxing. Killing a bunch of cute little bears that are being mean to Naughty." Believe me at first I was like Naughty this isn't right, but as the game goes on you realize that these other bears are just a big group of popular kids picking on Naughty. Oh and not to mention the 'voice' that keeps telling Naughty to do all this bad stuff!

Has anyone else played this game? I noticed I only have one friend that has played out of my 80ish friends and that was only because he watched me play.

What Happen To The Heat?

Ugh I feel like my second book is consuming all of my time! Actually today I took a couple hours off to watch the play-offs and all I have to say is what the heck happened to the Heat tonight? I told my boyfriend oh they are going to sweep the Bulls no doubt in my mind and then after the second half I was like okay no they aren't! I mean I don't want to take anything away from the Bulls but they struggled during the first bracket. LBJ wasn't really doing as good as he should have that was for sure. The real game that I was excited for was Spurs vs. Warriors. I was so happy until the third over time when the Spurs actually took the lead. How does that happen they were down the whole damn game! So tonight I am going to play catch-up on editing and go to bed a sad sports fan. Uh let's hope for better games tomorrow everyone!

Long Time Since I Posted Last!

Wow it's been  a really long time since I posted last! Okay, so I left off last weekend with my promo weekend for my book, which by the way went really well. I sold well over 100 copies and got four 5 star reviews! Which for me is really good considering no one was looking at my book because I am a new author. I'm hoping to get the word out this month a little more about my book. Although through blogs and media I haven't been getting a good response yet. Everyone tells me patience is the key to becoming a good author but I sometimes feel these people have never actually tried waiting for something they really want. It can be so frustrating! I just want people to read my story now! Although I'm sure by the second one it will get better. Anyone that knows some tips to get people to look at and buy your book please feel free to send me a message or comment. I could use all the help that I can get!

Wow! 2 In Free Best Seller List!

Wow this weekend has been great. I am glad that I decided to sell my book for free for the weekend, I made it to the 2nd best seller of free books in parenting teenagers! Also I got three reviews all 5 out of 5 stars I thought that was pretty awesome! Hopefully this means my sales will pick up after this. I'm feeling pretty excited today I just got my first sales in the United Kingdom, Germany, and Canada! I could still really use some reviews, but  this promo weekend is going really well so far! Well it's back to work for me. I need to get my next book out by the end of the year, which I know it seems like a long time. Believe me it goes by fast when you have a book to write and edit. Free Kindle Book Weekend!

After a wonderful day of four-wheeling with my family I decide that this weekend would be a perfect weekend to promote my new book Boyfriend. Fantasy or Murder?

Today as I was editing a bunch of great ideas came to me. I love when I'm working on a book and I think"Oh my gosh! I think I want to write a new series!" So I'm thinking after my upcoming four books I wanted to venture into teen fantasy or teen murder/suspense. What do you guys think? Can it be pulled off? I mean there aren't a lot of fantasy teen books. The ones that are out there are GREAT. Fantasy is one of the best things to write if you are a creative person. You can basically write anything. Murder/Suspense is extremely fun too though and if I was going to pick out of the two I would want to do that one. I just can't decide! 

Seriously Mondays?

Ugh....Seriously Mondays are the worst days! I had to edit all day and believe me going through edits all day is never fun! Hopefully I will be able to have my second book out though soon so that will all be worth it. After I finish with this series I'm thinking of doing something darker. Maybe a dark young adult book is going to be in the makings soon. I will have to look over some of my ideas and see if I could pull it off! I'm thinking way ahead of myself though because I am doing at least four books to this series one is available, one is being edited, one is in production and the other is not even thought of yet.  Well I think I am going to go get a cup of coffee and start another day of wishful edits. For the Love of Achievements!

 Hey guys and girls! Okay so there are many things that I love to do. I love cooking yummy food today I made the most delicious raspberry filled doughnuts. The other day I made one of my specialties chicken enchiladas and chicken tortilla soup for my mother-in-law's birthday and it was great! I also love fashion which really works out for me because my mother-in-law also owns her own store, so I get to stay up on all of the latest and greatest things! I love reading, although I'm not allowed to as much so I don't still ideas when I am writing, which brings me to loving writing. But one of my biggest loves is getting 100% on my Achievements for a game. I have eight games that are done and I am working on nine right now.

Now as you may know my Fiance is also a big gamer and he doesn't think that the Achievements are important at all. He is there to enjoy the game not to get Achievements, me on the other hand I actually enjoy getting them. I find it just as fun as the games most of the time as long as they aren't ridiculously impossible. Some games I actually look to see what the Achievos are befor I will buy it! Okay so I am probably over the top on the love I have for them.  

I'm wondering though, do you gamer girls and boys think that it is an important part of the game to get all of the Achievements that you possibly can? Or do you just skip them and play the game for the game and nothing else?

Flue and Fashion!

Borderlands 2 play? Or no play?

So if you looked at my Lara Croft post then you know what happened to me with Borderlands 2. Basically in a nutshell I had all of my Siren heads and skins, Assassin heads and skins, and only missing one Mechromancer head and a lot of her skins. I got on one day and it was all gone, after contacting Gearbox and them telling me to get them again I swore off the game.

Well a couple of days ago I went back and got the last of my achievements for Borderlands 1 and I was having a blast! I really do love the series but stopped playing because I didn't want to go get all my skins again and I haven't heard anything about a fix yet. Okay so I wanted to ask everyone that reads this do I go back to playing because I miss the game? Or do I continue to not play because I feel like Gearbox doesn't care about its costumers? Also if you do read this and know that the problem with disappearing heads and skins is resolved please let me know! Ugh I'm seriously having a hard time with this one!

Laura Croft Glitch

A couple of weeks ago I was running around as Laura Croft. I had finished the main part of the game and was going back to get all the collectables and out of no where I glitched into the mountains. I was a tad bit upset because it seems like every game I play lately glitches when I go back to get collectables. I saw a bunch of things about jumping onto the river and just keep jumping, so after an hour of jumping I got angry and swore off the game. I mean Laura Croft is fun but I wasn't going to 100% it anyway.

Today I found out that if your game glitched like mine did then you have nothing to worry about! They fixed it I loaded the game and I'm not in the mountains anymore. I have never had a game that actually fixed the glitch. I mean I love Borderlands and Borderlands 2. I got it on the first day it came out and played it non-stop for months. I had all of my Siren heads and most skins, Assassin heads and skins and then the Mechromancer came out and I was only missing one head and more than enough skins. I get on one day and go to change my Sirens head and guess what? All of my heads and skins are gone, when I contacted gearbox they basically told me to go get them again and I haven't played since. When I found out that the Tomb Raider glitch was actually looked at as a problem I was really happy! So it's okay Laura Croft fans! Go ahead and play your hearts out because the glitch is behind us!

Well I have more good news to put on my blog. Yesterday I was in review to sell my book with Kindle and Amazon and I got accepted! I am pretty excited to be able to share my book on Kindle. Seriously Spidey? Why are you so glitchy!?

Ugh! You got to be kidding me Amazing Spider Man! So As anyone knows that knows me I am pretty nerdy. I am probably one of the most fashionable nerds you will ever meet! I love glitter, I love heels, but I also love video games. Right now in my Xbox 360 is The Amazing Spider Man, which is a super fun game. I was playing through it a couple of weeks ago and having a great time, swinging on buildings, getting comic book pages, taking pictures. Who wouldn't be having fun? I get to this red spider in the park and I'm like "Ooh I want to take a picture!" *Snap* To my surprise I get an outfit! I was like yes! This is so cool! So I put on my new suit and go on with the game, I get to lizard. I fight him, and it feels like a hard fight. I win and do a happy dance. I'm finally done with the game! Now I can go for Achievements! Nope. My game wont load the 13th chapter.

Ugh are you serious? Spider Man I am so mad right now! I fight the lizard about 15 more times and the fight seems like nothing. It only takes me a couple of minutes at most. Finally I'm like this isn't working I need to figure out what is going on, so I go online and to my surprise you are not suppose to take pictures of the little spiders you see around the city, until after the freaking game! Thanks for the heads up there could have been a warning. So I really like this game I start it over on easy of course I'm going for achievements. Five hours later I'm at the lizard we are fighting over the formula. He is really pissed at this time and all of a sudden my game goes to the credits. WHAT THE F**K! I think to myself. Are you kidding me?? I really like this game obviously so I try it again and again and again....

Finally I fight the lizard it doesn't glitch on me and I am in my apartment with Gwen Stacy. I seriously did a victory dance again I almost think Gwen did one too! LOL. So I'm going getting my achievements having the time of my life swinging on the buildings, killing snipers, doing bully beat downs. Really fun game. I get all the way to 99% done. It tells me that I don't have all of my pictures of enemies. "Uh yes I do..." So my boyfriend says, "Did you take Felicia's picture?" I'm thinking yes! I go get to her again and take about 10 pictures of her and get nothing. The camera isn't changing from white so obviously I got her. I go through every playable level and take a picture of every bad guy seen in the game and guess what I get? Nothing!

By this time the game has glitched on me so much I really am not surprised that I would be facing this problem. I shut it off, and get online to see what I don't have. A couple of days go by I can't find anything when I get to this video of a guy going through his mail. I see a picture I know I don't have! I'm like yes! I can go get it! Do you know what it was? Of course it was Felicia! I was angrily fighting my way to her and when I got there I webbed her so she didn't bounce away and *Snap* achievement unlocked 100%. I also got a really cool black suit for it, but its like why? The game is done and I have nothing to do! Bragging Rights I guess. Now I just have to beat it on the Super Hero and believe me it isn't a walk in the park.

So I guess what I am getting at is that The Amazing Spider Man is a super fun game if you really love Spider Man and if you don't mind the many possible glitches that you might encounter along the way. Basically just do the story first then go back and get pictures and suits and you should be fine!

My Second Chapter!

Chapter Two

      I opened the front door and jumped into the freezing air. I wrapped my jacket tightly around my body, as I started to walk quickly. Even though it was summer, it was always cold in the morning. It was the last day of school. I wasn’t as excited for summer vacation as most teens would be. Then again I wasn’t like most teens either.

      I didn’t have anything planned, like my brother Martin did. His entire summer break he would be doing things with his friends while I sat up in my room reading. It could be a lot worse, but I would like to have something to do. Of course Gracie would try to get me to do a bunch of things this summer. I would hopefully be able to get out of without hurting her feelings.

      It felt like I walked forever before I finally got there. I hurried across the street to the school and opened the heavy door. As I walked down the hall towards my locker I could already see Gracie standing against my locker. It was hard for me not to be a little jealous of her, she was beautiful.

      Gracie was more like my mother than I was. She wore her sunny blond hair curled perfectly and it was always done differently. She always had makeup on when she came to school. I wasn’t sure if I had even seen her without makeup for the last four years. Her makeup made her look much older than fifteen, at least twenty. That was probably why Gracie and my mother got along so well. Sometimes I even felt like my mom wished Gracie was her daughter. She was scanning the hallways. I could tell she was beginning to grow impatient. She bit her lip and looked down at her watch then scanned the hallways again. She spotted me and waved her hands frantically for me to hurry my steady pace.

      When I made my way to her she said, “What took you so long?”

      “I didn’t realize I was going too slow for you, I’m sorry,” I said, “So what is this important news that can’t wait until later?”

      “Guess who asked me out?” she gleamed as I shut my locker.

      I sighed, trying to remember who she hasn’t gone out with at the school, “Um I don’t know Jason again?”

      She laughed, “Uh no, try Danny Miller!”

      “I guess I should have known, you’ve only had a huge crush on him all year,” I said.

      “Yeah, I’m excited about it but nervous,” she sighed. “I was actually hoping you would be able to help me out with something.”

      I looked at her in shock. What could she possibly need my help with? I had never been on a date before in my life. Gracie however, had already dated half the school. It wasn’t like I could do anything to improve her hair or makeup. Now, if she wanted help with school, I could totally understand. I had a feeling though, school was the last thing on Gracie’s mind.

      It was probably weird to others that Gracie and I were best friends because we were nothing alike. She was a pretty, energetic, boy getter. I on the other hand, was a smart, dorky, bookworm. Gracie had never been good at the whole schoolwork thing. She was too busy falling in and out of love to pay attention to anything else. Normally when we tried to do anything that involved school I was the one that did all the work while she talked about her latest failed relationship.

      “Uh, what exactly can I help you with?” I asked.

      “Well, like I said I’m pretty nervous, and I was thinking you can come with us,” she beamed at the idea.

      “No way Gracie, I’m not going on your date to be the third wheel. That is so embarrassing. I can’t believe you would want me to do that anyway, I’ll look so lame. Like, oh this is my best friend Ash Lynn. She can’t get a date so she showed up solo. Hope you don’t mind Danny.”

      “No! You won’t look lame because I wasn’t thinking of a third wheel kind of thing,” she started but I cut her off.

      “What do you mean you weren’t thinking of a third wheel kind of thing? What would you call it if I show up by myself?”

      “Well, you know Danny’s friend Brandon? I thought maybe you two could go together,” she whispered.

      “What?” I yelled. A couple of people turned to see what we were talking about. “You didn’t already talk to him, did you?”

      “I might have mentioned the idea to Danny,” she said looking away from me, “He seemed to think it was a good idea.”

      “Oh my gosh Gracie! I don’t want to go out with Brandon! He is a total nerd and I don’t even like him like that,” I moaned.

      “You act like you are so much better than him. I hate to tell you this, but people think you are a nerd too and besides, he likes you,” she said. “Maybe if you would give him a chance you might like him too.”

      “Wow Gracie, that is really nice for a best friend to say,” I glared at her.

      “Oh come on, you know I didn’t mean anything by it Ash. You know I’m not the one that thinks that. I am just trying to say that maybe you should get out of the house,” she said.

      “Well I might not be better than Brandon but I don’t like him and don’t want to go out with him. I don’t need to go out with him to figure that out either. So you might as well let them know for me that I won’t be there. Seeing that you are the one that let them know I would,” I said walking faster down the hall.

      “Please, please Ash. Do this for me please!” she begged grabbing my arm, “I will do anything for you, please do this one favor for me.”

      “Why should I?” I asked.

      “Because if you don’t then I won’t get to go out with Danny and I’ve wanted to go out with him for so long! I need you to help me please,” she begged.

      I didn’t want to give into Gracie.  I knew that if I didn’t go on this date with Brandon there was a good chance she wouldn’t talk to me for the rest of the summer. Even though I hated all of her plans if she wasn’t talking to me then my summer would really suck. I sighed, I couldn’t believe what I was about to say.    

      “You owe me big time if I do this for you.”

      “So you will then?” she asked in excitement.

      “Yeah I guess I will.” I groaned, “But as friends nothing else. You need to let him know that too.”

      “Thank you so much Ash Lynn! I promise whatever you want,” she said, grabbing me into a bear hug, “And I was thinking I could come over and do your makeup so you look really pretty!”

      I laughed a little, “Yeah I bet you can make me pretty.”

      She sighed, “Shut up Ash! You are pretty, you just need a little polish.”

      “Well I’m going to be late for class so I have to go,” I said rushing down the hall, “Talk to you at lunch okay?”

      “Okay! Talk to you then,” she yelled back to me as I disappeared down the hallway.

      I finally made it to my classroom with only a second to spare. I rushed back to my seat, which happened to be in the back of the classroom. Most people assumed that is where all the bad kids sat. I liked it back there because people didn’t notice me, and the teachers never tried to make me answer questions. Not that I wouldn’t know the answers, but I hated to talk in front of everyone.

       My first couple of classes dragged on, not that it really mattered to me. I wasn’t excited to hear about Gracie’s plans for the weekend. I wasn’t looking forward to discussing the game plan with her at lunch. She seriously annoyed me sometimes. Part of me wished I could be more like her but another part of me wished she could be more like me. I guess if we were too much alike we wouldn’t be friends though. When the bell rang for lunch, I packed my stuff as slowly as I could and walked to the lunchroom.

      When I finally arrived, I looked in our normal spot and saw Gracie sitting at the table. To my surprise, I saw Danny and Brandon sitting across from her. She was waving anxiously at me. I rolled my eyes right before Brandon glanced over and waved at me as well. I smiled back, trying to be as nice as possible. I slowly walked over with my head down, plopping down next to Gracie. I wished I had a way to get out of this lunch, but I was stuck there. I felt as though I was in a war and I was about to surrender my territory.

      Danny and Brandon were like Gracie and me. Most people didn’t understand why Danny (who was cute) would ever hang out with Brandon (who was a total nerd). Danny had dark brown hair and greenish-blue eyes. He was tall and athletically built, and, of course, he played sports. Brandon had dark brown eyes that were almost black, which were hidden behind huge geeky glasses. Even mine weren’t as bad as his. He was also tall, but not in an attractive, strong way. He was lanky and skinny. His light blond hair was always parted to the side, as if his mother brushed his hair each morning. To top everything off, he wore button up shirts, which only add to his nerdy appearance. Oh and he was the president of the science club. I know what everyone is thinking I’m being judgmental but seriously the science club?

      “Oh my gosh Ash I was starting to wonder where you were. What took you so long?” she asked when I sat down.

      “I came at my usual time Gracie.” I glared at her, “Beside I’m not that hungry. I almost feel like I could be sick at any moment.”

      “So how are you doing Ash Lynn?” Brandon asked, a little shy.

      I sighed, “I could always be worse I guess. What about you Brandon?”

      “I’m doing great today,” he smiled at me, “I was actually wondering if you were going to be busy this weekend?”

      “Oh um, I don’t know. I’ll have to check my schedule and see what I’m up too,” I said to him, “I mean, I have a pretty tight schedule.”

      “Uh, okay. I thought,” he stopped and looked at Danny, confused. I held back a smile. He was such a nerd, I couldn’t help myself.

      “She is just kidding, Brandon, she isn’t doing anything this weekend, right Ash?” Gracie said pinching my leg under the table.

      “Ouch,” I groaned, “Well, I guess I don’t have to check my schedule after all.”

      “Ash Lynn has a weird sense of humor,” Gracie glared at me.

      “In that case, I was wondering if you would like to go to the movies with me on Sunday?” Brandon asked, with a smile.

      I sighed, “Yeah I guess so.”

      “Great! I bet we are going to have a lot of fun,” Brandon said, “I’m really looking forward to see this movie with you.”

      “Oh, I bet it is going to be a blast. I can just see it now.” I groaned.

      “Great I bet we are all going to have a blast,” Gracie smiled at me.

      Lunch dragged on especially because I didn’t want to be there. Everyone at the table was involved in a big conversation that I’m sure I should have been involved in. I was too busy trying to think of a way to get out of this weekend. Everyone knew I wasn’t going to have anything planned with anyone else. Even if I was deathly sick Gracie would drag me to the movies with them. I was screwed. Finally, the bell rang to go to class. I jumped out of my seat and made it to the lunchroom doors before Gracie finally caught up with me.

      “Where are you off to so fast?” Gracie said, chasing after me.

      “I was almost late for class earlier and I don’t want to be late this time,” I said.

      “Ash Lynn it is the last day of school. No one really cares if you are late,” Gracie said.

      “Maybe you don’t care, but I do.”

      “Why did you give Brandon such a hard time? He is already nervous,” Gracie noted.

      I groaned, “Well, like I already told you, I don’t want to do this.”

      “It’s one night, I promise.”

      I glanced back and Brandon smiled at me. I knew he wasn’t thinking it would only be one night. I didn’t want him to think there was a chance I liked him, but there was no way out now. I was sure Gracie wasn’t actually going to tell him I didn’t. We walked in silence to our last class. I didn’t feel like talking to Gracie at the moment. All through class she gushed about how excited she was for her date, which made me even madder.

      I never thought that my first date would possibly be this upsetting. Then again I never imagined going on a first date. I knew most boys saw me as the smart nerdy girl that had straight A’s in school. That was the way it had always been. I remember last year when Gracie tried to convince me that one of our friends liked me.

      It was embarrassing because I started to think she might be right, his name was Mark. He was in the same grade as us and she was convinced that he liked me more than a friend. I tried telling her that he didn’t, but she said that he was just shy. I didn’t want to ask him out and take the chance that it would ruin our friendship. I really wanted a boyfriend but I knew that our friendship was more important.

      “Come on Ash, Mark definitely likes you. Just go ask him to go to the movies or something,” she said.

      “No he doesn’t Gracie, if he did why hasn’t he asked me out?” I asked her.

      “He must be shy,” she said.

      “No he isn’t Gracie you know that,” I said

      “You are going to have to ask him out,” Gracie said, “Just trust me Ash.”

      “No Gracie, I don’t want to ask him out. He likes me as a friend,” I said as we made our way into the class room.

      We were still arguing when Mark came in and sat down at the desk next to mine. I glared at Gracie and shook my head no. I looked over at Mark and he smiled at me. I smiled back and looked down at my homework assignment. I tried to fake like I was looking over my answers. I could feel Gracie’s eyes on me and I knew that she wasn’t going to let it go. She never let anything go and she always thought she was right. If she wasn’t my best friend I would have hated her for sure.

      “That homework last night was pretty tough,” Mark said looking over my answers as well. His face was closer to mine than I was use too.

      I backed up a little, “It wasn’t that bad.”

      “Of course you didn’t think it was bad. You’re so smart,” he smiled sitting back in his seat.

      “Well if you need help I can help you,” I said pushing my glasses up my nose.

      “You finished all of it?” he asked.

      I smiled at him, “Do you really have to ask me that?”

      He laughed, “Yeah you have always been really smart. I remember in the sixth grade I would always copy off you test in Science.”

      “Yeah I remember when you got caught too. The teacher had to rearrange the seating chart because of you,” I laughed.

      “Hey Mark, Ash and I were going to go to her house tonight to study. Do you want to come over and help us?” Gracie said.

       “Uh I don’t really see Ash Lynn needing help with school work, but I have nothing better to do so sure,” Mark said winking at me, “I’ll come over.”

      That night waiting for Mark, I felt like Gracie might have been right. He winked at me that must have meant something right? Gracie kept telling me that she knew he like me and that tonight I would finally have my first boyfriend. I felt nervous when I heard the knock on the door. Gracie went up to my room, and I went to answer the door. Mark walked in with his backpack and smiled at me. I guided us into the living room Mark sat down. I sat next to him and started to unload my books from my bag.

      “Alright so what did you want to start on, Math? Or do you want to do some English first?” I asked.

      “Hey I thought Gracie was going to be here too,” he said not unpacking his bag.

      “Oh yeah, she had to canceled, so it looks like it is just going to be us,” I smiled, “I hope that’s okay?”

      “Uh, I don’t want to be rude Ash but I only came over because I thought Gracie was going to be here. I think she is really hot, and I was finally going to ask her out tonight,” he said, standing up.

      “Of course you like Gracie. I should have guessed that because everyone likes her,” I said, packing up my books.

      “I’m really sorry Ash, it’s not like you really need a study buddy anyway,” Mark said.

       “You’re right I don’t need your help with school,” I said.

      “Now I feel like a jerk,” Mark said, “Ash, you didn’t think I liked you, did you?”

      “Nope, that never crossed my mind. I’m not stupid Mark, I just thought you came over here to study,” I said, “I’m sure you can show yourself out right?”

      “Uh, sure I guess.”

      I stormed upstairs to my room and threw open the door. Gracie was sitting on my bed painting her toe nails. She looked up and smiled at me. It quickly faded as I slammed the door and she jumped. As I sat down on the bed she capped the fingernail polish and put it on my nightstand.     

      “What the heck happened Ash?” Gracie asked.

      “He likes you.”

      “Wait what do you mean he likes me?” she asked.

      “That’s exactly what I mean Gracie. Mark likes you, that’s the only reason he came over here. He wanted to ask you out,” I said.

      “What a jerk, I am so sorry Ash,” she said. “I really thought he like you.”

      “Yeah well, I tried to tell you he didn’t,” I said.

      “His loss, any guy that doesn’t like you is an idiot. You are going to be the perfect girlfriend,” Gracie said.

      “Ugh! No one is ever going to like me. I’m such an idiot to even think Mark liked me,” I sighed. I felt so embarrassed to even think that a guy would ever like me. I was just a dork and Gracie was beautiful.

      I shook my head, and tried to refocus on the present. Mark was in the past and that was last year. It didn’t make me want to go out with Brandon still. Thinking about Mark made me realize, I should make the best of any opportunity that I was given. I was sure that a lot of girls probably went on practice dates and that’s what I would think of Brandon as.
